Teen Education
Wisconsin implemented its Graduated Driving Licensing program in September 2000. These changes to the laws were designed to decrease young driver fatalities, by imposing special restrictions for teenagers. The State of Wisconsin requires students, under the age of 18 years old, to complete 30 hours of classroom study. Go to Classroom Schedule. During this time, the students are taught the rules of the road, proper behavior while driving, and prepare them for their Learners Permit (Temps) test. The Department of Motor Vehicles has designed an app which can be found on the I Tunes store. It is called the WI DMV Driver Practice Test. We administer the Temps test and the signs test on the 13th day. During the 15 classroom sessions we will administer quizzes and a final test in addition to the temps test and signs test. The student needs to get 70% in order to pass the course. The temps test and the signs test requires an 80% average. Our classroom and WPDSA on-line program are very similar in content. Students who miss classes due for various reasons are required to attend the class/classes they missed in a future session. If the student does not wish to attend the classes that they miss we can contract with the student and sign them up for the WPDSA on-line program where they can do the specific session / sessions related to information missed in the classroom for $20 (the cost of a code). We administer the temps test on the 13th day of class each session. If the student cannot attend that particular day, they can go to the DMV and take the temps test there if they are 15 1/2 years of age. We will provide the student with written proof that they are done with the classroom once homework is returned. If a student fails their temps test on the 13th day, they can re-take the test at the DMV after the session is complete (again, we will provide written proof that they have completed the classroom). Otherwise, we can administer the temps test on an upcoming parent orientation night if the student requests this ( if we resume these ). Once the student has acquired their Learner Permit (temps), they are now ready to take the lessons they have learned in the classroom and apply them in the vehicle. The student must be accompanied by someone who is at least 21 years of age and has a valid driver license. Trinity Driving School needs to be contacted when the temps are acquired so that we can schedule at least one lesson within the first 60 days of obtaining them (WI Law). The student must hold their Learners Permit for a minimum of six (6) months before taking their road test. During these six months, the new driver must acquire a minimum of thirty (30) hours of driving practice. Ten (10) of which are to be night driving. Night time driving counts as driving that is done after 6:30 p.m. in the evening. In the event the student moves out of state, decides to all of the sudden disappear and becomes non-cooperative in finishing the remaining behind-the-wheel lessons, we are required to remove them from the program. If they desire to resume training there will be a $75 re-in-statement fee because a new contract, new MV3001 form and other arrangements need to be made with the state of Wisconsin in order to resume btw training. Also, any fee past fees for missed behind-the-wheel lessons need to be paid at this time. For their Behind-The-Wheel lessons, we offer pick-up and drop-off from home, school or work, for students who have taken the classroom portion of their training in the classroom and not on-line. For on-line students the behind-the-wheel pick-up and drop-off points will be Hortonville, Greenville or Medina. If you live in a considerable distance from areas that we can best maximize our btw lesson time, we may ask you to meet us closer to Hortonville or Greenville for driving lessons. Our most popular Teen Program is 'Teen Class & 6/6 BTW' This fee covers the classroom time, six (6) hours of behind the wheel training and six (6) hours of observation time. We also offer optional programs with additional driving hours and decreased observation time if you prefer. To register for class call us at (920) 716-4391 To schedule behind the wheels lessons, please text or call us at (920) 716-4391 STEP BY STEP PROCESS 1. Select a class time that works best in your schedule and sign-up for class. Note: We reserve the right to cancel any session where we do not reach a minimum of 20 students. If a session is cancelled individuals who desire to be placed in the next session will be automatically enrolled in that session. We will make the necessary adjustments with the dates on the initial contract. If the individual desires to be refunded so that they can seek other instruction, Trinity Driving School will return any pre-deposits (we never cash any check until a session has been running for at least 2 - 4 days). The student has another option, they can sign-up for our WPDSA on-line classes and work at their own pace. We realize that this may be inconvenient, however, the time we spend doing 15 days in a small classroom setting can be better utilized on the road doing behind the wheel lessons during the school year. 2. Upon signing up, the System should show you that the application went through. If it does not, it means the browser you are using didn’t send it. Once we receive it, a contract will be sent or delivered to your home. Return the contract and deposit ASAP to confirm your registration in class. 3. The classroom will last up to three and a half weeks depending on whether or not we run a 4-day classroom week or a 5-day classroom week. 4. Once the student has acquired their Learners Permit (Temps) they may begin driving. Notify Trinity Driving School as soon as possible that the student has acquired their permit. The DMV does not notify us that the student has gotten their temps. We need to perform the first btw lesson within 60 days of the student obtaining their temps. An adult 21 years or older, who holds a valid regular license, must be in the passenger seat. The student driver must have written consent from their parents with them. This is a signed statement from the either parent giving permission to the person to drive with their son or daughter. Non-family members are not allowed in the backseat(s) unless the student driver is 16 years old and the non-family member is 25 years of age or older, has a valid driver license with at least 2 years of driving experience (only 1 person unrelated person is allowed in the backseat). 5. Students should schedule a monthly behind the wheel lesson with Trinity. We will do our best to make allowances for sports and employment. It is not Trinity responsibility to schedule behind the wheel lessons with the student. The student needs to do their 1st BTW lesson within the first 60 days of the obtaining their Learner Permit. If they do not, a new MV3001 form needs to be obtained from Trinity Driving School so the parent can take their teen to the DMV and reapply for a new instructional permit (60-day rule). 6. The student must hold their Learners Permit for a minimum of six months prior to taking their Road Test. During this time they must acquire 30 hours of driving experience (10 of which must be at night). 7. Students can schedule their road test up to 11 weeks in advance. Notify Trinity Driving School as soon as possible of your test date, so we can schedule any remaining behind the wheel lessons at this time. Trinity Driving School requires a minimum of three week notice of a road test date, to insure that we have ample time to schedule any remaining drive times. If three week notice is not given, the student may be forced to reschedule their road test date to a later time. 8. If you have chosen a payment plan, the final payment must be made prior to the scheduling of the last behind the wheel lesson. Payment 1 – Deposit due back with contract Payment 2 – Due after the first behind the wheel Payment 3 – Due on the fifth behind the wheel 9. Trinity Driving School has no obligation to complete the last driving lesson until it has been paid in full. If the account has not been paid in full, the student may be forced to reschedule their road test.
